About The Cross Garage
The business was established by George Cooper and Herbert Greuel from Germany. Herbert came over from the Volkswagen factory in the 50s to teach mechanics in the newly formed Volkswagen dealerships. He stayed in Scotland, marrying a Scots lass and, after meeting George, formed a partnership which lasted until his retirement in 1986.
After serving his apprenticeship under Herbert, George's son, Stephen, joined the RAF and after 11 years of service returned to take over the running of the garage. George has been retired since 1999 but is still around offering assistance.
